University of Rochester scientists investigating the link between PCBs, pesticides and Parkinson's disease demonstrated new and intricate reactions that occur in certain brain cells, making them more vulnerable to injury after exposures.
Paladin Labs Inc. and Labopharm Inc. announced today that they have entered into a definitive agreement pursuant to which Paladin will acquire all of the issued and outstanding common shares of Labopharm at a price of $0.2857 per share in cash, which represents a premium of 57.4% over the volume-weighted average price of Labopharm's shares of $0.1815 for the 30 trading days prior to this announcement.

In a paper published in the Nov. 9 issue of the Journal of Neuroscience, researchers at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine say this process is even more complex than previously thought, with regulated genes actually relocated to other, more conducive places in the cell nucleus.
Following yesterday's release of the "Chairman's Mark" by Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus, the Health Coalition on Liability and Access expressed disappointment that the bill does not take action on medical liability reform, and urges the Senate to include real reform measures in any health care bill it passes.
