In anticipation of today's controversial presentation of the Thai HIV vaccine study data at the AIDS Vaccine Conference in Paris, AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) reiterated its disappointment at the news that data that seriously undermined the purported success of the trial were not released publicly when other, more favorable data were reported late last month.
Researchers from the Department of Personality, Assessment and Psychological Treatment at the University of Granada have adapted a set of assessment criteria created by lecturers from the USA to the Spanish language.
Covance Inc., a leading provider of drug development services, announced today that it has opened a state-of-the-art biorepository facility at its Greenfield, Indiana location. The 20,000-square-foot building is dedicated to long-term storage of clinical trial specimens. The facility is able to store a wide-range of specimens, including plasma, serum, whole blood, DNA, PBMC, and tissue.
Motor development in children under five years of age can now be tested reliably: Together with colleagues from Lausanne, researchers from the University Children's Hospital Zurich and the University of Zurich have determined normative data for different exercises such as hopping or running. This enables parents and experts to gage the motor skills of young children for the first time objectively and thus identify abnormalities at an early stage.
The development of simple tests to predict a leukemic relapse in young patients is a step closer thanks to researchers from the Sainte-Justine University Hospital Research Center and the University of Montreal. Approximately 20 percent of young leukemia patients who are treated with stem cells derived from umbilical cord blood will experience leukemic relapse.
