BioCryst Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced the presentation of new data that confirms forodesine's clinical activity in the treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia at the 52nd Annual American Society of Hematology Meeting & Exposition being held in Orlando, Florida.
A government report says that clinical trials for new medicines are taking too long and should be sped up so patients can access urgently needed treatment. The states and territories have been urged to adopt uniform rules on approving trials so the scientific experiments can be conducted more efficiently and effectively.
The states need to increase the number of public dental patients they treat or lose the reward payments offered by the federal government under its new $500 million dental package. A total of over $800 million of new money has come into the focal points of the health budget - dental and aged care.
Merck & Co., Inc., known outside the U.S. and Canada as MSD, today provided further detail on integration plans for the company's research and development, manufacturing and other business operations as part of a global restructuring program announced following the November 2009 merger of Merck and Schering-Plough.
