The reason why we sleep remains an unresolved question of the 21st century. Research by Sara Marie Ulv Larsen, Sebastian Camillo Holst and colleagues from the Neurobiology Research Unit at the University Hospital Copenhagen, published this week in the open access journal PLoS Biology, now shows that the depth of non-rapid-eye-movement (nonREM) sleep in humans is associated with different genetic versions of a gene that encodes a water channel involved in fluid flow in the brain.
A massive survey conducted by researchers at the University of Toronto reveals Americans living in states with high rates of income inequality are significantly more likely to have a disability that limits the completion of daily tasks such as dressing, bathing and mobility at home.
Leading doctors today [Monday 20 April, 2015] warn that medical and public recognition of sepsis-thought to contribute to between a third and a half of all hospital deaths-must improve if the number of deaths from this common and potentially life-threatening condition are to fall.

Jeff Colyer and Aging and Disability Services Secretary Shawn Sullivan said.
