Preterm infants who demonstrate uncoordinated sucking patterns during feeding could have neurologic dysfunction, research suggests.
Following the recently announced success achieved during the third round of trials at its research facility at Queen's University (Kingston Ontario, Canada) Medizone International, Inc. announces that a second patent application has been filed which in combination with its previous patent application for AsepticSure™ filed in July of 2009, affords the Company greatly enhanced protection for both the hospital version of AsepticSure™ and the government variant intended for bio-terrorism countermeasures.
According to experts a simple DNA test for Down syndrome could save nearly all pregnant women from invasive tests like amniocentesis. Usually 3% to 5% of pregnant women in the UK or some 30,000 women have to undergo invasive tests like amniocentesis that increases the risk of miscarriage to 1%. The new DNA blood test could bring this down to 0.1%, according to a study in the British Medical Journal.
The head of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has proposed charging compounding pharmacies fees to pay for the oversight needed to prevent a recurrence of the meningitis outbreak that killed 50 people and sickened hundreds more.
