Cynosure, Inc., a leader in laser- and light-based aesthetic treatments, today announced that it has received European Medical Device Directive (MDD) certification from its European Notified Body for SculpSure, the world's first hyperthermic aesthetic laser for non-invasive fat reduction. The certification, from Intertek Semko AB, allows Cynosure to place the "CE" Mark on SculpSure for distribution in the European Union and its member states.
Researchers at the University of Kentucky found that patients who had negative thinking patterns, such as thoughts about not being able to justify their own existence, were at higher risk for developing depression.
Rare types of cervical cancer can be effectively prevented with screening, a comprehensive study of identified cases of rare cervical cancer over a ten-year period in Sweden concludes. The study was conducted by researchers at Karolinska Institutet and is published in The BMJ.
AstraZeneca today announced that it has entered into a five-year research collaboration with the Harvard Stem Cell Institute to adapt a technique that creates human beta cells from stem cells for use in screens of AstraZeneca's compound library in the search for new treatments for diabetes.
