Scientists have discovered new ways in which the malaria parasite survives in the blood stream of its victims, a discovery that could pave the way to new treatments for the disease.
Emergent BioSolutions Inc. today announced that the U.S. government has indicated its intention to award Emergent a sole source contract (RFP-2011-N-13414) for the purchase of 44.75 million doses of BioThrax (Anthrax Vaccine Adsorbed) for inclusion in the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) over a 5 year period.
Gail Wright considered herself healthy. She had no idea she had a chronic liver disease. "I was at a routine check-up and my doctor said my liver enzymes were elevated. I was sent to a specialist but I wasn't too worried. I didn't have any symptoms."
Telemedicine can help health care providers in rural areas stabilize and treat trauma victims when long distances or inclement weather prevents immediate transfer to an accredited trauma center.
