For the first time, a woman has given birth to two children after her fertility was restored using transplants of ovarian tissue that had been removed and frozen during her cancer treatment and then restored once she was cured.
Through a systematic review of published studies going back 50 years, Johns Hopkins Medicine researchers say they have identified a distinct subtype of primary central nervous system lymphoma that should be considered for surgical removal, suggesting a major shift in how this type of tumor is evaluated and managed.
Chiasma, Inc., a privately held biopharma company, announced that the Food and Drug Administration has granted orphan drug designation for Chiasma's investigational new drug, Octreolin, an oral form of octreotide acetate that uses the Company's proprietary Transient Permeability Enhancer technology for the oral treatment of acromegaly, a hormonal disorder that results from an excess of growth hormone.
