The attorney general maintains that the board went beyond its authority by removing a provision from the regulations that would have required existing clinics to meet new hospital construction standards. Also in Virginia, Gov. Bob McDonnell appointed an anti-abortion physician to the board of health. Meanwhile, in other state news, Planned Parenthood has filed suit against Arizona.
Pheromones are chemicals that animals produce to change the behavior of another animal of the same species. Many species use these chemicals to communicate information about the location, sexual, and social status of potential partners. A team of researchers from Columbia University may have unlocked how the pheromone darcin, aids in attracting mice of the opposite sex.
"It does not surprise me that some children are being given medicine as the easy way out but that doesn't mean it's the right way to do it," says Max Wiznitzer, MD, a pediatric neurologist at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospitals about the Center for Disease Control's estimate 10,000 toddlers receive medication for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
