The Global Democracy Promotion Act, recently introduced in the House by Rep. Nita Lowey, "would bar the use of U.S. foreign aid to restrict people's liberty and says that organizations accepting U.S. assistance cannot be forced to quash perfectly legal activities in return," Planned Parenthood Federation of America Vice President Latanya Mapp Frett writes in a New York Daily News opinion piece.
According to new survey results, when 2007 Cardiometabolic Health Congress participants were asked what guidelines they follow for treating patients with multiple cardiovascular and metabolic risk factors, the largest group of respondents indicated that they didn't follow any particular set of guidelines and that better guidelines are needed.
A new analysis of data from more than 12,000 people with cystic fibrosis (CF) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Pa) lung infection in the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Patient Registry shows that use of TOBI (Tobramycin Inhalation Solution, USP) was associated with a 21% reduction in mortality in the following year.
Research staff of the University of Valencia and the Foundation for the Promotion of Health and Biomedical Research of the Valencian Community, among other institutions, have developed a very sensitive and fast in-vitro method for the diagnosis of infection by Pneumocystis jirovecii, a fungus that causes severe pneumonia.
