Rutgers University's Cook Campus is buzzing with the news of a recent $750,000 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) grant that will fund important and innovative research about biodiversity and West Nile Virus. Biodiversity, or the amount and variety of plants and animals in a geographic region, has become a major topic of interest in recent years.
A collaborative research and development partnership between researchers at the University of Georgia and Sanofi Pasteur, the largest influenza vaccine manufacturer in the world, has resulted in the identification of a vaccine candidate that protects against multiple co-circulating strains of H3N2 influenza isolated over five seasons following testing in mouse and ferret models.
The CAIDE Dementia Risk App from Merz Pharmaceuticals is available free of charge for people from 40 to 65 to calculate their individual risk for getting dementia within the next two decades. Using a traffic light color scheme, the App can also help physicians discuss preventive measures with patients at risk.
