Inova Labs, a privately held medical device company focused on developing innovative products for the Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) market, announced today that it has secured a Series B round of equity financing for up to $17.5M from an investment syndicate led by Latterell Venture Partners, based in San Francisco, Calif.
The Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation announced today a $900,000 grant to AgeneBio, a pharmaceutical company developing innovative therapies for neurologic and psychiatric diseases. The grant will support the initiation of an FDA-registered Phase 3 clinical trial of AGB101, a new therapeutic treatment for amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI).
Not all women diagnosed with operable breast cancer present with a single tumor; some have multifocal disease appear in the breast, which means multiple tumors found in the same breast quadrant, while others have multicentric disease, where multiple tumors are found in separate breast quadrants. Multifocal or multicentric disease is not a standard indication to receive radiation after mastectomy. For patients who undergo lumpectomy, radiation dose and extent is not altered based on multifocal or multicentric disease compared to patients presenting with a single tumor.
New Zealand's Director-General of Health, Stephen McKernan, is warning people about the potential health dangers associated with three products promoted and sold in New Zealand for sexual enhancement or the treatment of erectile dysfunction which may contain an undeclared therapeutic substance.
Recent cocaine use may hide some of the cognitive deficits commonly experienced by individuals addicted to cocaine, scientists at the U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory report in a study published in the April 2009 issue of Neuropsychopharmacology - a special issue dedicated to cocaine research.
