The Obama administration on Wednesday asked an appeals court for an emergency stay that would lift the ban on federal funding of research involving human embryonic stem cells. U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth last month ruled that the research violated U.S. law because it involved destroying human embryos, a setback for President Barack Obama who had tried to expand research in hopes it would lead to new cures of diseases.
Advanced Cell Technology or "ACT" announced today that its research involving therapeutic cell types obtained from induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells has been featured in several leading news media outlets: Scientific American, USA Today and Newsweek.
A new study published on bmj.com calls for better advice about home blood glucose monitoring for patients with non-insulin dependent (type 2) diabetes.Type 2 diabetes usually develops in people over 40, especially when the person is overweight.
