While more men than women develop kidney stones and other obstructions in the urinary tract, women are more than twice as likely to suffer infections related to the condition, according to a new study led by Henry Ford Hospital researchers.
Advances in diagnostic imaging have benefited children with otolaryngologic disease, allowing shorter hospital stays, fewer invasive procedures, more targeted surgical procedures, and earlier and more precise diagnoses. However, despite improved technology, concerns about exposure of children to ionizing radiation have recently come to the forefront, according to a commentary in the July 2012 issue of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
A new peroxisome proliferator activated receptor agonist currently in development, DB959, will most likely be administered orally once a day, according to a presentation made by researchers recently at the American Diabetes Association's 71st Scientific Sessions.
Public health issues will be dealt hereafter by the local government that has a duty to look after the health and wellbeing of its population and there is an obvious synergy between public health challenges such as obesity, smoking and sexually transmitted infections, and local authority services such as housing, environmental health and education.
