In a new discovery, researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital have detected widespread inflammation in the brains of veterans diagnosed with Gulf War Illness.
Most severely obese teenagers who underwent bariatric weight-loss surgery (WLS) experienced no major complications, according to a study published by JAMA Pediatrics, a JAMA Network publication.
BIOBASE, a leading provider of biological databases and software for the life sciences industry, announced today the renewal of the second year of a 5-year licensing agreement with the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This 5-year contract provides all 27 NIH institutions with locally installed access to the BIOBASE Knowledge Library™ which includes the premier TRANSFAC® and PROTEOME® databases.
Scientists may now be able to predict whether carrying a specific genetic variant increases a person's risk for disease using gene editing and stem cell technologies, according to new research in the American Heart Association's journal Circulation.
With new findings launched today showing that antimicrobial use in the community in Australia is higher than in England, Canada, Norway, Denmark, Sweden and the Netherlands—and that the number of antimicrobials being prescribed in Australia continues to grow—NPS MedicineWise is again urging Australians to stop expecting antibiotics for viruses such as colds and flu.
