The results of an extensive new study funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), Ethnic-specific BMI cut-off points for obesity based on type 2 diabetes mellitus risk: a cohort study of 1.5 million people in England, presented at this year's European Congress on Obesity (ECO) and published simultaneously in the leading journal, The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology reveal that inaccurate and outdated interpretations of the standard Body Mass Index (BMI) values for patients from BAME backgrounds in England could potentially be putting their health at risk.
The expansion is currently being tackled as part of the state's two-year budget blueprint, but the House GOP is urging that it be considered separately in order to avert a potential government shutdown.
Researchers at the University of Surrey are investigating the effects of sleep deprivation on metabolic and cardiovascular function and are looking for volunteers to take part in a study.
The Coalition has promised an expenditure of $50.5 million to take on child abuse in Victoria, if it wins next month's election. The claims made say that the aim would be to try for early intervention, aimed at reducing the rates of abuse.
People who suffer from migraines are at an increased risk for developing hearing loss, report researchers.
