The risk of developing psychosis is more than tripled for those who abuse cannabis, according to results from a new twin study.
A report by the Government Accountability Office found many examples of insurance plans not complying with the health law's requirement that they separately itemize a charge for coverage of elective abortion on enrollees' bills. The agreement that no federal funds go to pay for elective abortions was the basis of a political compromise that allowed the health law to pass in 2010.
A new Canadian study suggests that individuals who take anti-depressants and/or anti-psychotics and participate in a weight management program can lose weight whether or not they take psychiatric medications, according to a report published online today in Obesity, the flagship journal of The Obesity Society.
In an early-stage breakthrough, a team of Northwestern University scientists has developed a new family of compounds that could slow the progression of Parkinson's disease.
Cytori Therapeutics reported results from their preclinical study on the use of uncultured adipose-derived regenerative cells (ADRCs) in the treatment of critical periodontal defects in a rat model. The results suggest that the use of ADRCs may reverse the effects of periodontal disease, evidenced by significantly improved alveolar bone healing and decreased gingival (gum) invasion of the defect. The data were reported today at the 95th Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Periodontology in Boston.
