A study from Switzerland suggests that men who have surgery for prostate cancer appear less likely to die of the disease within 10 years than men who choose other treatment options, especially if they are younger or have cancers with certain tumor cell characteristics, according to a report in the Oct. 8 issue of Archives of Internal Medicine, one of the JAMA/Archives journals.
Contrary to an earlier study, more frequent participation in needle-exchange programs does not increase risk of HIV infection among injection drug users, according to a study published in the February issue of the American Journal of Medicine, Reuters Health reports.
The measure would make it illegal for a health care professionals to make false or deceptive advertising claims. In addition, two Senate committees are focusing on various aspects of either fruad within the health care markeplace, or misleading sales tactics, as a means to find savings in Medicare and Medicaid.
"It won't happen to me." Maybe that sentiment explains consumers' attitude toward long-term disability insurance, which pays a portion of your income if you are unable to work.
Investigators failed to see improvement in colorectal cancer (CRC) screening rates among patients enrolled in a managed care health plan after testing the effectiveness of a CRC screening promotion program targeting the physician organizations (POs).
