By following a group of newly diagnosed patients with Parkinson's disease for a decade or more, researchers have been able to identify several factors never before reported that appear to be associated with higher mortality rates in PD patients compared to the general population.
Gamida Cell, a leader in cell therapy technologies and products for transplantation and adaptive immune therapy, announced today that orphan drug designation has been granted by The US Department of Health and Human Services, The FDA Office of Orphan Products Development (OOPD) for the investigational medicinal product NiCord for the treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), acute myeloid leukemia (AML), Hodgkin lymphoma and myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS).
Sleep Revolution, an interdisciplinary international research and development project, has been selected for a 15-million Euro grant from the EU's Horizon 2020 Framework Programme for Health, demographic change and wellbeing.
A recent study conducted at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit revealed that the computer keyboards with the highest level of germs were found in the triage and registration areas of the hospital's emergency department. These high-traffic areas create a source of some of the deadliest viruses - such as Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus - reinforcing demand for products developed by UNOTRON, creator of hermetically sealed, dishwasher-safe, medical-grade washable computer keyboards, scroll wheel mice, and smartcard readers.
The older population may soon be facing a medical care crisis as numbers of students studying geriatric medicine continue to decrease rapidly, say researchers at the University of Cincinnati (UC).
