A paper from the National Institutes of Health in the United States has evaluated the separate and combined effects of the frequency of alcohol consumption and the average quantity of alcohol drunk per occasion and how that relates to mortality risk from individual cancers as well as all cancers.
Bodily inflammation dampens levels of a ‘feel-good molecule' and antidepressants' ability to boost them, according to new research in mice.
Tumor necrosis factor inhibitor drugs (commonly called Anti-TNFs) modestly reduce the risk of acute coronary syndrome, such as heart attacks and angina, in rheumatoid arthritis patients whose inflammation places them at higher risk of developing coronary heart disease, according to new research findings presented this week at the American College of Rheumatology Annual Meeting in San Diego.
The mid-December "milestone" for a federal advisory panel to come up with a definition of "meaningful use" of electronic medical records has come and gone, Modern Healthcare reports. That definition is to be used by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to determine who is eligible for a share of $34 billion in subsidies provided as part of the February stimulus bill. The members of the federal panel began shaping their definition in May.
Prasco Laboratories announced today that it is now shipping the authorized generic version of ZEGERID® (omeprazole/sodium bicarbonate) capsules. Authorized generics are generic pharmaceuticals manufactured identically to the brand product and sold under a private label. Under the terms of a distribution and supply agreement with Santarus, Prasco will sell and distribute the capsule form of Omeprazole/Sodium Bicarbonate in 20 mg and 40 mg strengths in the U.S. under the Prasco label.
