A risk reduction program focused on African American heterosexual couples appears to diminish risky sexual behaviors among couples in which one partner is HIV-positive and the other is not, according to a report posted online today that will appear in the September 27 print issue of Archives of Internal Medicine, one of the JAMA/Archives journals.
Agfa HealthCare, a leading provider of diagnostic imaging and healthcare IT solutions, today announces that Western Maryland Regional Medical Center's recent upgrade to the newest version of IMPAX HeartStation ECG Management System has helped enable the rapid diagnosis and treatment of patients with posterior wall heart attacks. The Cumberland-based hospital is using the recently released features of IMPAX HeartStation to digitally review and archive 15-lead ECG studies.
Harold Varmus, MD, co-recipient of the 1989 Nobel Prize in Medicine and Lewis Thomas University Professor of Medicine at Meyer Cancer Center of Weill Cornell Medical College, will deliver the 168th Anniversary Discourse at The New York Academy of Medicine. The event will take place on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at the Academy (1216 Fifth Avenue at 103rd Street) and is free and open to the public with registration.
Eighty-eight percent of Medicare beneficiaries enrolled in stand-alone drug plans under the Medicare prescription drug benefit are in plans that do not provide coverage during the so-called "doughnut hole," according to a report released on Thursday by Democrats on the House Ways and Means Committee, the AP/Boston Globe reports.
