In a sign of what to expect in 2010, businesses and individuals hit hardest by the economy's slide have shifted charitable giving patterns to longer-term pledges and gift commitments rather than ceasing to give altogether, according to a study of benchmarking data and effective philanthropic fundraising techniques released today by the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP).
ThromboGenics NV, a biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery and development of innovative treatments for eye disease, announces that data from the second Phase III trial of microplasmin (TG-MV-007) for the non-surgical treatment of vitreomacular adhesion (VMA), are to be presented at the 28th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS) and the 10th EURETINA Congress.
During a breakfast with reporters, Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Mathews Burwell also signaled that the federal government is unlikely to "step in" to address narrow network issues related to health plans offered on the exchanges.
Israeli scientists report in Human Reproduction that they have successfully transplanted whole frozen and thawed ovaries in sheep, retrieved oocytes from these ovaries and triggered them in the laboratory into early embryonic development.
