The search for new medicines will receive a £10M boost this week as the public and private sectors unite to fund bioprocessing research. The money is now available for scientists to apply for from the Bioprocessing Research Industry Club (BRIC) which aims to bring academics and industry together to find ways of delivering new medicines from biological materials more quickly and effectively.
BioDelivery Sciences International, Inc. has received a $1.3 million grant from the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research for Bioral Amphotericin B, an oral formulation of the fungicidal treatment amphotericin B in BDSI's patented Bioral drug delivery technology, to further study the formulation in the treatment of Cutaneous Leishmaniasis.
From 2001 to 2006, Canada's health care providers were less likely to move from one province or territory to another, with migration rates decreasing to their lowest levels in two decades for some occupational groups. According to a new study released today by the Canadian Institute for Health Information, this decline was particularly apparent for physicians.
Attitudes, relationships, intentions and personal behavior control are all factors that could affect a child's decision in either reaching for an apple or grabbing a bag of chips, according to a new study out of the University of Cincinnati.
Immunotherapy when used for cancer treatment could extend life longer finds studies. Experts have explained that until now immunotherapy was reserved as a last resort for most patients and treatment usually comprised of chemotherapy and radiation therapy failing which these were tried. In a pair of clinical trials, researchers have found that using immunotherapy as first line treatment can extend lives of these cancer patients.
