Mental illness associated with early childhood adversity may be passed from generation to generation, according to a study of adults whose parents evacuated Finland as children during World War II.
ERYTECH Pharma SA announced today that it has received clearance of its Investigational New Drug Application from the United States Food and Drug Administration to initiate a Phase I clinical trial of its product ERYASP, L-asparaginase loaded erythrocytes, in patients 40 years or older with newly diagnosed Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
Janssen R&D Ireland Ltd announced today that they have entered into a collaboration with ViiV Healthcare to develop and commercialize a new single tablet regimen containing Janssen's Non-Nucleoside Reverse Transcriptase Inhibitor rilpivirine (marketed as EDURANT®) and ViiV's Integrase Inhibitor dolutegravir(marketed as TIVICAY®) as the sole active ingredients for the maintenance treatment of people living with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).
In a new study published in the journal Science Advances a connection was found between friendliness of dogs and a particular genetic makeup. Dogs differ from their closest cousins – wolves, in their friendliness towards humans and the gene that makes this possible has now been uncovered. This gene that allows for the hypersocial behaviour in dogs is also common in humans the study finds.
An experimental medication that was recently shown to slow the progression of the neurodegenerative disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), or Lou Gehrig's disease, has now demonstrated the potential to also prolong patient survival.
