A study of Swedish men suggests nine risk factors, most of which can be traced to adolescence, account for most cases of young-onset dementia (YOD) diagnosed before the age of 65 years, according to a report published by JAMA Internal Medicine, a JAMA Network publication.
Wilshire Oncology Medical Group, Inc., a physician-owned, multi-specialty cancer and blood disease practice in Southern California, and US Oncology, Inc., the nation's leading integrated oncology company, today announced a new collaboration in Southern California to expand patient access to high-quality, advanced cancer care through the United Network of US Oncology.
Mylan Inc. today announced that it has completed a private placement of $550 million aggregate principal amount of 7.625% Senior Notes due 2017 and $700 million aggregate principal amount of 7.875% Senior Notes due 2020. Mylan is using $1.0 billion of the net proceeds from the private placement to prepay a portion of its outstanding term loans, thereby reducing senior secured leverage and extending the maturity profile of its outstanding indebtedness, and the remainder for general corporate purposes.
Kaiser Health News staff writer Christopher Weaver reports: "In one of the marquee benefits of the health overhaul, the federal government will spend $5 billion to subsidize so-called high-risk pools to provide coverage for people who have trouble getting insurance because of preexisting health problems until 2014. But a new report suggests that amount may not be enough to cover their needs"
More than 100 scientists from Australia, Asia, Europe and the US have been probing the genome of the mouse in a joint study lasting several years.
