Researchers at Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University have found two novel ways of killing the bacteria that cause tuberculosis (TB), a disease responsible for an estimated two million deaths each year. The findings, published in the March 21 online issue of Nature Chemical Biology, could lead to a potent TB therapy that would also prevent resistant TB strains from developing.
Techne Corporation announced that its Board of Directors has decided to pay a dividend of $0.26 per share for the quarter ended March 31, 2010. The quarterly dividend will be payable May 28, 2010 to all common shareholders of record on May 14, 2010. Future cash dividends will be considered by the Board of Directors on a quarterly basis.
Women who undergo weight-loss surgery, known as bariatric surgery, and later become pregnant after losing weight may be at lower risk for pregnancy-related diabetes and high blood pressure - complications that can seriously affect the mother or her baby - than pregnant women who are obese, according to new findings from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality that are published in the November 19 issue of JAMA.
