OrSense Ltd., developer of monitors for non-invasive measurements of various blood parameters, announced today at the XXXIst International Congress of the International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT), in Berlin, Germany, the presentation of NBM 200, a non-invasive hemoglobin (Hb) measurement system for various hematological applications including anemia monitoring, hemorrhage detection and pre-donation screening.
Atrial fibrillation, also known as AFib, is the most common type of irregular heartbeat, and it is associated with increased mortality. While researchers have identified a causal link between obesity and AFib, the underlying mechanism of how obesity contributes to the heart arrhythmia is still unknown.
Acute alcoholic hepatitis is one of the most serious forms of alcoholic liver disease, affecting individuals with chronic excessive alcohol consumption, which generally equates to more than 50 grams of alcohol per day, over a period of more than three to six months. The disease is characterized by liver failure and acute jaundice (icterus), which may induce a coma through liver failure and an ensuing death rate of between 40-45% within the first six months.
