A combination of the immune checkpoint blocker, avelumab, plus the tyrosine kinase inhibitor, axitinib, significantly improves progression-free survival in previously untreated patients with advanced renal cell carcinoma in a phase 3 study, according to results presented at ESMO 2018 Congress.
A protein crucial for the immune response appears to be a key player in the progression of a devastating form of childhood leukemia called T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL). Suppressing the activity of the protein kills the leukemic cells, the study shows, opening a potential avenue to new drugs that could prevent progression of the disease.
The West Wireless Health Institute today announced its participation in the first joint meeting hosted by the Federal Communications Commission and Food & Drug Administration to explore the potential barriers that may slow the convergence of wireless communications and health care solutions.
