Mums-to-be living in war zones/areas of armed conflict are at heightened risk of giving birth to low birthweight babies.
A work group of physicians from leading academic medical centers across the country, including NYU Langone Medical Center, has developed new quality measures for the detection and treatment of childhood obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), a potentially morbid, life-altering condition that affects hundreds of thousands of children and adolescents nationwide.
Dr. John McPherson, Platform Leader, Cancer Genomics and High-Throughput Screening, and Dr. Kamran Shazand, Project Manager, of the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) led a team of scientists who have completed a thorough evaluation of the NEBNext(TM) DNA Sample Prep Reagents for use with OICR's Illumina® Genome Analyzer II.
The Pennsylvania House last week voted to approve a bill that allows state residents up to age 29 to be added to or remain on their parents' health insurance plans as long as they live in the state or are full-time students, the Harrisburg Patriot-News reports. They also must be single and not have dependents.
The more rainfall a region in sub-Saharan Africa gets, the more mosquitoes proliferate there and the more likely its residents will sleep under their insecticide-treated bed nets to prevent malaria transmission, a new study from the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs suggests.
