Serametrix Corporation, a personalized medicine company, today announced their partnership with the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research Ltd. (LICR). The agreement will combine LICR's historic discoveries in tumor immunology with the technologies and commercial capabilities of Serametrix. This new alliance will enable rapid development and commercialization of tests that predict and monitor drug response in cancer patients. The serum-based tests, which determine immune reaction to tumor antigens, are of value to clinicians and drug developers alike.
Numerous studies show that non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs reduce the risk of colon cancer. However, animal studies testing the NSAID naproxen or its derivative, NO-naproxen, have focused primarily on chemically-induced tumor formation.
A new, easy-to-use EEG electrode set for the measurement of the electrical activity of the brain was developed in a recent study completed at the University of Eastern Finland. The solutions developed in the PhD study of Pasi Lepola, MSc, make it possible to attach the electrode set on the patient quickly, resulting in reliable results without any special treatment of the skin.
