Aeterna Zentaris Inc. today announced that it has reached agreement with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on a Special Protocol Assessment (SPA) for Solorel® (AEZS-130, macimorelin) which will enable the Company to complete the ongoing registration study required to gain approval as a diagnostic test for Adult Growth Hormone Deficiency (AGHD).
Researchers at National Jewish Health have discovered a signaling pathway that is crucial to the devastating effects of acute lung injury. The data, obtained from cells, animals and ALI patients, suggest several potential therapeutic targets. Experimental blockade of one of the targets significantly reduced flooding of the lungs that is the hallmark of ALI.
A research consortium headed by Professor Hossam Haick of the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology is developing a product that, when coupled with a smartphone, will be able to screen the user's breath for early detection of life-threatening diseases.
In a paper to be published Nov. 22 in the online edition of the journal Science, a team of University of Wisconsin-Madison researchers reports the genetic reprogramming of human skin cells to create cells indistinguishable from embryonic stem cells.
