Greatbatch Medical announced today that it has received regulatory clearance for its next generation valved peelable introducer used in the delivery of leads and catheters into the venous system. OptiSeal™ Valved PTFE Peelable Introducer achieved regulatory clearance on Monday, March 15, 2010, representing the first 510(k) regulatory approval under the Greatbatch Medical brand. It is also approved in Canada and CE marked for distribution in Europe.
Mayo Clinic has announced a new health insurance option that will allow Canadians to access Mayo Clinic expertise and care. The product, called MyCare, is provided by Assured Diagnosis Inc. and will be available nationwide in Canada, initially excluding Quebec.

The study concluded that in this undifferentiated, symptomatic patient population ST2 was more specific for acute heart failure than BNP and that ST2 is independently predictive of future death and/or heart failure and has incremental utility in combination with BNP.
