Radiologists at ProMedica Toledo Hospital Breast Care Center have a new tool to help evaluate breast tissue density on a mammogram. It's called VolparaDensity™, a breast imaging software tool that uses complex physics and software to measure the amount of tissue within a patient's breast.
The Black AIDS Institute, with support from Merck, announced the launch of the Black Treatment Advocates Network. BTAN, the first collaborative Network of its kind, will train and mobilize a team of treatment advocates with a mission to link Black Americans with HIV into care and treatment; strengthen local and national leadership; raise HIV science and treatment literacy in Black communities; and advocate for policy change and research priorities.
Lowering the body temperature of patients soon after they have suffered a severe brain injury may reduce neurologic complications and improve outcomes. The safety of therapeutic hypothermia for traumatic brain injury (TBI) has been demonstrated in national studies. According to a Roundtable Discussion of renowned experts in the field, when and how it is administered should depend on the clinical condition of individual patients.
Researchers have discovered that there may be a new pathway in the brain that provides pain relief and reduces cravings for opioids.
