An in-depth study of nanoparticle distribution in tumor-bearing mice has shown that targeted magnetic nanoparticles accumulate and cluster in both primary breast tumors and metastatic lesions that have developed in the lung.
A new study has shown that taking progesterone supplements during the first trimester of pregnancy does not improve the chances of maintaining pregnancy among women who have a history of unexplained recurrent miscarriage.
Now real-time PCR methods can detect even smaller changes and rare events with the new Promega GoTaq qPCR Master Mix. The new GoTaq qPCR Master Mix frequently delivers earlier cycle thresholds than SYBR Green I. The advanced functionality gives scientists both increased reliability and reproducibility compared to the performance of existing real-time reagent systems.
Breast cancer cells frequently move from their primary site and invade bone, decreasing a patient's chance of survival. This process of metastasis is complex, and factors both within the breast cancer cells and within the new bone environment play a role. In next week's Journal of Biological Chemistry "Paper of the Week," Roger Gomis and colleagues at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine in Spain investigated how breast cancer cells migrate to bone.
The Central East LHIN, which oversaw a peer review that resulted in 220 job cuts in the Rouge Valley Healthcare system is deliberately downplaying the potential impact of the same process in Peterborough, says the union representing 540 employees at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre.
