Road injuries have become more frequent but less fatal over the past three decades, according to a new scientific study.
"The Haitian government's $2.2 billion, 10-year plan to eradicate cholera was launched on Wednesday against the backdrop of the U.N.'s rejection of a legal claim from more than 5,000 victims" that sought compensation for the cholera epidemic, which "has killed more than 8,000 people and infected nearly 648,000" and is thought to have been started by a U.N. peacekeeping mission, the Guardian reports.
Scientists have found that losing the sense of smell is an early sign that a person is at risk of development of dementia later in life. The study entitled "Olfactory Dysfunction Predicts Subsequent Dementia in Older US Adults," was published in the latest issue of the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society.
Increased consumption of flavanols - a group of molecules occurring naturally in fruit and vegetables - could protect people from mental stress-induced cardiovascular events such as stroke, heart disease and thrombosis, according to new research.
