In a new study, researchers confirmed that the use of paracetamol during pregnancy led to an increased risk of children displaying symptoms of ADHD and autism.
Researchers affiliated with the University of Campinas in São Paulo State, Brazil, have shown that genetic information can be used to improve early prediction of the response to drugs in patients with mesial temporal lobe epilepsy (MTLE), one of the most severe forms of epilepsy.
"Washington, D.C., is usually under the watchful eye of policy wonks and journalists. This weekend, however, the eyes of millions of children will be on D.C. as their fates are determined by the world's financial leaders, descending on Washington for the Spring Meetings of the IMF and World Bank," Ray Chambers, U.N. special envoy for health financing, writes in the Huffington Post's "Impact" blog.
The largest congress worldwide on the topic of particle or ion therapy - radiation with heavy ions and protons - has taken place in the fall of 2009 in Heidelberg. Well over 600 international participants, especially from Japan and the USA, convened in the Heidelberg Town Hall for the annual meeting of the "Particle Therapy Cooperative Group" (PTCOG), including leading experts from the fields of radiation therapy, medical physics and oncology.
Mushrooms might serve as biofactories for the production of various beneficial human drugs, according to plant pathologists who have inserted new genes into mushrooms.
