Scientists at the Center for Applied Medical Research at the University of Navarra have designed a promising gene therapy method to treat Wilson's disease, a rare pathology caused by the lack of or malfunction of a gene.
The images are heartbreaking: thousands of infants born with small, misshapen heads, the result of a rare neurological disorder, called microcephaly, which can cause a myriad of intellectual and developmental disabilities. The culprit? Zika, a mosquito-borne virus that has swept through many parts of South America and more recently surfaced in Florida.
Milken Institute School of Public Health (Milken Institute SPH) at the George Washington University will hold a conference on September 25 to highlight the disproportionate health challenges faced by many Latino communities and families-with a focus on possible solutions.
