A newly devised tumor-specific fluorescent agent and imaging system guided surgeons in real time to remove additional tumors in ovarian cancer patients that were not visible without fluorescence or could not be felt during surgery.
A survey of dental school applicants led by researchers at the University of Dundee has found that only 3% of those intending to enter general dental practice expected to work exclusively within the NHS.
On May 12th, the Metropolitan Chicago Breast Cancer Task Force traveled to Springfield, Illinois to lobby lawmakers to fully fund the Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program, which provides free mammograms and Pap testing for uninsured women aged 35 to 64.
Today's dramatic vote in the U.S. House of Representatives brings us one step closer to meaningful health care reform. We are very pleased that the Affordable Health Care for America Act makes health care more accessible and affordable for millions of Americans by enhancing coverage, promoting preventive care and improving delivery of care. But this milestone also serves as a sober reminder of the tremendous amount of work we still have before us if we are to ensure that legislation that ultimately emerges from Congress and is sent to the President retains the patient protections and provisions that are in line with the association's tenets of health care reform and are so important to individuals struggling with heart disease and stroke and their families.
Mice fed diets high in sugar developed worse colitis, a type of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and researchers examining their large intestines found more of the bacteria that can damage the gut's protective mucus layer.
