Although only one in 10 American adults eats enough fruits and vegetables, new research being presented at the Experimental Biology meeting this week in Washington, D.C., finds older adults are consuming higher levels of carotenoids, flavonoids and other phytonutrients found in fruits and vegetables that are thought to support healthy aging.
Amidst threat of major nuclear accident in Japan, people are in a state of panic worldwide said Jerrold Bushberg, a medical physicist at UC Davis. Bushberg said Americans do not have a good knowledge of the science of radiation and tend to over-exaggerate the risks.
St. Louis-based ZeaVision, LLC announced that three recent groundbreaking studies demonstrate that Zeaxanthin (zee-uh-zan-thin), the predominate protective pigment in the back of the eye, reduces the risk for Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and benefits the treatment of advanced AMD, a condition that destroys central vision and affects millions of Americans.
The Wall Street Journal/Dow Jones: When health insurance executives meet with Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius at the White House Thursday to discuss premiums, they will "face a regulator who is well-versed in the complexities of the industry."
