A new study has been published on the bioRxiv* preprint server, which takes a long-read repertoire amplification approach to better understand, compare and contrast B cell responses to emerging or endemic viruses.
To know how many proteins assemble together at the nanoscale is fundamental for understanding protein function. Sometimes, proteins must be in an "oligomeric" state to be functional, although "oligomerization" of certain proteins can also lead to diseases. The ability to determine protein stoichiometry and monitor changes in the balance between monomeric, dimeric and multi-meric proteins can allow scientists to see the differences between a properly functioning cell and a diseased cell. Therefore, there is a great interest in being able to count proteins and determine their stoichiometry.
More than a quarter million women who gave birth in U.S. hospitals in 2008 had pre-existing diabetes or developed it during their pregnancy - a condition called gestational diabetes, according to the latest News and Numbers from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. This equals 6.4 percent of the 4.2 million women who gave birth in that year.
According to latest research, gold particles can be effective in certain cancer therapy areas. Researchers at the Edinburgh University report in their new study that gold particles can help enhance the effectiveness of the agents used for lung cancer cells. The study is published in the scientific journal Angewandte Chemie.
