Scientists have found that a strain of yeast implicated in inflammatory skin conditions, including eczema, can be killed by certain peptides and could potentially provide a new treatment for these debilitating skin conditions.

An important observational registry evaluating processes of care and one-year outcomes of over 4300 heart attack patients is now being completed. Researchers at the Saint Luke's Mid America Heart Institute in Kansas City, MO have led this observational research study in collaboration with 23 other hospitals throughout the U.S.
Astronaut Koichi Wakata of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) studied the effect of microgravity on bone density as well as on plants building their shape during his stay in the International Space Station (ISS) with an inverted research microscope by Leica Microsystems, the Leica DMI6000 B. He returned to earth with new data from several experiments at the ISS module "Kibo" which will now be evaluated and analyzed by him and collaborating scientists at Japanese research institutions.
