Americans' dietary habits have been scrutinized for being dependent on processed, refined and incomplete foods. This has left many Americans to reassess the foods they eat and essentially reconstruct their personal food pyramids.
Together with its European research partners, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland has developed new methods and tools for the development of embedded systems. The aircraft, car, industrial automation, electronics and telecommunications industries in particular can benefit from methods for the development of even safer systems than before.
A potential new drug for lung cancer has eliminated tumours in 50% of mice in a new study published today in the journal Cancer Research. In the animals, the drug also stopped lung cancer tumours from growing and becoming resistant to treatment. The authors of the research, from Imperial College London, are now planning to take the drug into clinical trials, to establish whether it could offer hope to patients with an inoperable form of lung cancer.
Researchers from the U.S. recently reported a multimodal "SHIELD: Target, Test, and Tell" program that helped mitigate the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 at a large public university. The program also prevented community transmission and helped the continuation of in-person classes during the pandemic. This study is available on the medRxiv* preprint server.
Pediatric researchers at UT Southwestern Medical Center have identified a key component of the pathogenesis of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), a devastating and sometimes fatal lung disease that affects premature infants. Their findings clarify what prompts the inflammatory response that results in BPD, which previously had been unclear.
