The majority of advanced cancer patients who experience agitation achieve control after the first dose of an antipsychotic–antiseizure combination is administered, show study results.
Gliomas are common brain tumors that comprise about one third of all cancers of the nervous system. In a study funded by the National Institutes of Health, researchers tested a novel combination treatment approach on mice with tumors with characteristics similar to human astrocytomas-a type of slow-growing glioma-and found tumor regression in 60 percent of the mice treated.
For years, scientists have observed that when male and female mice eat the same high-fat diet, the males gain significantly more weight than the females.
Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University has received a $3 million grant from the Glenn Foundation for Medical Research to establish the Paul F. Glenn Center for the Biology of Human Aging Research. The grant will fund research to translate recent laboratory and animal discoveries into therapies to slow human aging.
