University of Alberta chemistry researchers have discovered an active catalyst that has the potential to improve the efficiency and environmental impact of manufacturing processes used to make products such as agrochemicals and pharmaceuticals.
Eisai Co., Ltd. announced today that its U.S. subsidiary Eisai Inc. received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for an indication expansion for Eisai's antiepileptic drug Fycompa (perampanel) to cover partial-onset seizures in pediatric patients with epilepsy 4 years of age and older.
Omission Brewing Company today announced support for the FDA's new gluten-free labeling standard as an important step forward in providing clear, consistent guidance to gluten sensitive consumers, including celiac disease sufferers. With the new labeling rules issued today, the FDA has officially adopted the widely accepted standard of 20 ppm gluten, which has been in place in many countries around the world for several years.
Kaiser Permanente research published today in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine found if patients with hypertension taking prescribed medications experience unusually low blood pressures - systolic blood pressure under 110mmHg - they are twice as likely to experience a fall or faint as patients whose treated blood pressure remains 110mmHg and above.
The study found there is a racial bias in patient treatment and doctors are more likely to give better health care to whites than African Americans.
