The area of the brain responsible for self-control, where the decision not to do something occurs after thinking about doing it, is separate from the area associated with taking action, scientists say in the August 22 issue of The Journal of Neuroscience.
Roche announced today at the 51st Meeting of the American Society of Hematology (ASH) in New Orleans, LA (USA) that the pivotal Phase III study CLL8 showed that patients with previously-untreated chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) survived their disease longer when treated with Rituxan (rituximab) compared to chemotherapy alone.
Huifeng Bio-Pharmaceutical Technology, Inc., specializing in developing and producing botanical extracts and other raw materials for pharmaceuticals and food additives, today announces a definitive agreement under which Huifeng will acquire 90% of the equity ownership of Shangqiu Kexin Rutin Processing Ltd., a local leading Rutin manufacturer in Henan Province, at a price of $1.75 million. As a result of the acquisition, Kexin will be a wholly-owned subsidiary of Huifeng.
A pilot scheme called the HIP QIP programme was implemented across six trusts. Five of these were in England and one in Scotland. The scheme involves giving the elderly patients with hip fractures one extra meal per day. Results showed that this strategy can reduce the deaths among these patients by half.
Even individuals who start exercising for 2.5 hours per week in their late 40s and 50s have better cardiovascular health than those who do not adhere to an exercise regimen, say researchers.
