The Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has purchased an EnvisionTEC 3D-Bioplotter to conduct regenerative biology and tissue engineering research
Cognitive impairment following a traumatic brain injury (TBI) is common, often adversely affecting quality of life for those 1.7 million Americans who experience a TBI each year. Researchers at the Center for BrainHealth at The University of Texas at Dallas have identified complex brain connectivity patterns in individuals with chronic phases of traumatic brain injury which may explain long term higher order cognitive function deficits.
Most, if not all, solid tumors contain regions that are not well oxygenated. Tumor cells in these regions, which are known as hypoxic regions, are usually resistant to the death-inducing effects of chemotherapeutics. But now, Caroline Dive and colleagues, at Manchester University, United Kingdom, have identified a compound that induces human cancer cells exposed to hypoxic conditions in vitro to undergo a form of cell death known as apoptosis.
LTC Properties, Inc. announced today that it had declared the quarterly cash dividend of $0.50 per share on the Company's 8.0% Series F Cumulative Preferred Stock. The dividend is payable on April 15, 2011 to stockholders of record on April 1, 2011.
