UNICEF Executive Director Anthony Lake said Wednesday "that a more transparent and competitive market will lead to savings of more than $20 million over the next 12 months through a price reduction of 20 percent for bednets that protect people from malaria," a UNICEF press release reports.
While a great deal of research on childhood obesity has spotlighted the long-term health problems that emerge in adulthood, a new UCLA study focuses on the condition's immediate consequences and shows that obese youngsters are at far greater risk than had been supposed.
PhytoMedical Technologies, Inc. has announced their partnership with LATITUDE Pharmaceuticals, Inc. to develop an IV Formulation for its lead anti cancer compound for glioblastoma. LATITUDE Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a widely recognized expert in the area of drug formulations and delivery systems.
In a study conducted by researchers at Moffitt Cancer Center and colleagues from 11 other institutions in the Unites States and the United Kingdom, genes that are known to be involved in inflammation were found to be related to risk of ovarian cancer.
It is known that fasting increases lead absorption in adults and consequently regular meals and snacks are recommended for children to prevent lead poisoning. New research published in BioMed Central's open access journal Environmental Health demonstrates that having a regular breakfast is associated with lower blood lead levels in children.
