GenoMed has underscored the discovery by Connecticut scientists that robins are the vector for West Nile virus in their state, not crows.
Professor Dieter Wolke and Dr Kirsty Lee, in the Department of Psychology, discovered that teenagers who are involved in bullying in any way - from bullies, to their victims, to those who both bully and get bullied - are more likely to develop concerns about their eating and exercise behaviours, and become preoccupied with losing weight.
Researchers have isolated compounds from the vegetable broccoli that they believe may help prevent or slow the progress of bladder cancer.
"Recurrent wheeze and breathlessness are common in people with cystic fibrosis, and bronchodilators are commonly prescribed," according to lead author Clare Halfhide, M.D., of the Royal Liverpool Children's Hospital in England. "Despite their wide-scale and often long-term use, there is limited objective evidence about their efficacy in cystic fibrosis."
