Binge eating is a problem affecting both men and women, however obese men who binge are more likely than their female counterparts to have elevated cholesterol and high blood pressure, finds a new study in General Hospital Psychiatry.
Researchers at Leiden University led by Mario van der Stelt (Leiden Institute for Chemistry) have set 'gold standards' for developing new painkillers based on the medicinal effects of cannabis. Publication in Nature Communications.
Steven Goodman, MD, PhD, has worn many hats through his long and varied career, from pediatrician to biostatistician, from epidemiologist to clinical trial expert, from scientist to, well, opera singer. Admittedly, opera has been more of a hobby for him than a career path, but it does give some indication of his ability to master a wide range of subjects.
The International Serious Adverse Events Consortium (SAEC) announced today that Cerner Corporation will collaborate with this novel, international research consortium, which is working to identify genetic markers that may help predict which individuals are at risk for a range of serious drug-related adverse events (SAEs). Researchers collaborating with the SAEC will use Cerner Discovere-, Cerner's web-based research platform, to gather data for studies that focus on two SAEs: liver injury and hypersensitivity reactions.
Aside from mass testing, one of the most important methods to curb the transmission of the novel coronavirus is through extensive contact tracing. Now there's an opportunity to become a contact tracer as the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health has launched a six-hour online course.
