OraSure Technologies, the market leader in oral fluid diagnostics, announced today that Quest Diagnostics Incorporated released new data indicating that oral fluid revealed approximately five times more heroin use in the general U.S. workforce than previously believed.
Parents, teachers, and healthcare providers are among those most concerned by an alarming increase in self-injurious behaviors among young people. Indeed, it has been estimated that the trend has doubled in the past three years and continues to climb as the seemingly bizarre behavior reaches into the middle schools. The Udall Center at the University of Minnesota Medical School was awarded a new $11.3 million grant from the National Institute for Neurological Disorders and Stroke to continue its work in deep brain stimulation (DBS) for Parkinson's disease.
